Zeke!!!
Mood:  happy
Topic: Greyhound
Tonight we met Zeke and his foster mom. For me, it was love at first sight. He came right up to us and seemed to have a big smile on his face. We filled out the paperwork there on the spot.

Zeke is about the same size as our former greyhound, Marty. He is very good-natured and playful.

Janie is jealous when I pet Zeke. When I do pet him she comes up and pushes him over out of her way so I can pet her instead.

A couple of days ago, my husband was loading the dishwasher and Janie came up to him and stole a wooden spoon right out of the machine! She ran off with it but the girls took it away from her. Then the next day she took the scrub brush out of the bathroom. She is so nosy and so cute!

Yesterday there was a turtle in the back yard so we put Janie's muzzle on her and let her go out to investigate. She was very curious but didn't get too close. The turtle moved its head when she was staring at it and Janie jumped back.

Whenever she goes outside now she sniffs that area to see where the turtle went.

We may be adopting another greyhound this Friday. There is a really handsome boy named "Zeke" that they want us to meet. I am so exicted. He is white with black spots and he looks like he is smiling in his picture.

Janie Barks!
Mood:  surprised

The first time she barked for us was on Tuesday. One of the girls in the neighborhood was over and was running in the yard with Janie. She was running around having fun and suddenly seemed to bark with joy. We were all very surprised because Marty never barked.

The next morning, Janie tried to wake me up by putting her freezing cold nose on me. I said, "Janie, please go back to sleep." She was rubbing her head on me and when I didn't respond she barked at me. It startled me!

Then this morning, my older daughter was asleep and Janie wanted her to play so she barked at her. It was only 5:00 a.m.

Marty is Home

I picked up Marty's ashes today from the hospital. I didn't cry until I got in the car and saw that the funeral home had made a clay imprint of his paw for us. That was something I had wished I had done, so I was so happy to see they had done it.

His urn is very beautiful. It is an off-white clay pot. We will display it in the livingroom so he is always with us.

Janie had a great day today! She got to eat her very first pig's ear. Suezettte gave it to her and then tried to get her to go outside. Janie didn't want to at first and so Suezette pulled the pig's ear and pulled Janie out the door. :)

Today Janie went out in the back yard and relaxed in the sun. She looked so pretty. Then she flipped on her back and started kicking her back legs like a bronco. Greyhounds do that when they are happy, so that makes me feel good.

When she was sleeping tonight she was moving her mouth and she looked like she was talking in her sleep.

My friend Suezette came to town today to visit Janie. She says she is here to see me, but I know better. *wink* She has fallen in love with Janie and is constantly petting her. She was just like that with Marty, our former greyhound.

Janie was so adorable today. Every time Suezette stopped petting her, Janie hit her with her paw to let her know she didn't want her to stop.

Once when Suezette was "spooning" in the floor with Janie, she stopped petting her. Every time Janie would hit her with her paw Suezette would "ignore" her. After a few minutes, Janie growled at her to let her know that she expected her to resume petting immediately. We were laughing so hard! Of course, Suezette started petting Janie again.

Janie really likes to run in the yard. She runs around our shed really fast. She runs in a figure 8 pattern around the shet and the picnic table. I can't believe she can turn the corners so quickly without falling over.

She slept in until 7:00 today. I think it is mainly because Suezette kept her up late last night. Janie was trying not to fall asleep while Suezette was petting her. Her eyes were glazed over with fatigue but she would not let her stop.

Poor Bunny Slippers
Mood:  happy
Topic: Greyhound
My poor bunny slippers are being attacked! Janie went into my room and found them and has been attacking them. It is so funny because she shakes them and tosses them around. I am wondering if this is what greyhounds do to real rabbits that they catch.

She also loves to play with the toys that squeak. The first few times she would make a toy squeak she would stop and raise her ears. Now she just keeps on attacking.

This morning she got me up at 5:30. She seemed hungry and I fed her and she ate every bite. When I went to the bathroom she came in with me and even walked into the shower. She is very curious!

Today we adopted our new greyhound, Janie the "little princess."

We first saw her on an adoption website right after our beloved greyhound, Marty, passed away.

Janie caught my daughter's eye because she was described as "little princess." My daughter considers herself to be a princess. :)

Janie seemed to take to us right away. In fact, while we were at the pet store filling out her paperwork, my younger daughter was petting another greyhound. Janie went and stood between them and looked up at my daughter as if to say "why are you petting that dog when you can pet ME?"

When we brought Janie home, the first thing she did was walk into every room and check it out. She even went into the bathrooms.

She is very curious and notices everything. She loves to watch our fish swimming. She also loves to look out the sliding glass door at the lizards. :)

Janie is very affectionate. She loves a lot of attention and you are not allowed to stop petting her until SHE says so. She will get plenty of love in this houshold. :)
